Smart Maker Learning Goals
Image Description: The word, "smart" is written across the top of the image under the words, "goal setting." Under the letter, S, is written, "Specific. Who, what, where, when, why, which. Define the goal as much as possible with no ambiguous language. Who is involved, what do I want to accomplish, where will it be done, why am I doing this (reasons, purpose), which contraints/requirements do I have?" Under the letter, M, is written, "Measurable. From and to. Can you track the progress and measure the outcome? How much, how many, how will I know when my goal is accomplished?" Under the letter, A, is written, "Attainable. How. Is the goal reasonable enough to be accomplished? How so? Make sure the goal is not out of reach or below standard performance. Under the letter, R, is written, "Relevant. Worthwhile. Is the goal consistent with other goals you have established and fits with your immediate and long term plans?" Under the letter, T, is written, "Timely. When. Your objective should include a time limit. I will complete this step by month/date/year. It will establish a sense of urgency and prompt you to have better time management."

On the first day of the synchronous week we were introduced to smart goals. While this was not a new concept to me, it has been years since I've written any for myself. I feel unsettled as I work through this master's degree as I am not certain of what I want to do with my life after it is complete. Completing the M.E.T. degree is the only sure thing in my life, besides my family and friends. The following goals are my best guess...
Goal 1
My first goal is to take what I have learned in this course into the fall semester and add to my knowledge of inclusivity in makification. This is important to the organizations I hope to support in the future because they will be serving under represented and marginalized communities.
Goal 2
My second goal is to graduate from the MET program in April 2024 and convocate in May 2024. This is important to me because I would like to become faculty at my university, where I will be able to have greater influence in creating a more inclusive making environment. I will need a graduate degree to achieve this goal.

Goal 3
My third goal is to create a business plan, by the end of July 2024, to launch a consulting practice which includes an inclusive makerspace component. I currently see providing making workshops with an E.D.I.D.A. focus. I endeavour to use what I have learned in the MET program to support educators in institutions and businesses.

Goal 4
My fourth goal is to launch my inclusive making practice by the end of 2024.
